a) OUTDOOR EVENTS 2012

Weds 25 July: HIMALAYANBALSAM & BAT WALK, 7.30 pm

Meet at Pen-y-fron Chapel on Pen y Fron Road.

Sat 4th Aug: INVERTEBRATE IDTRAINING FOCUSING ON BUMBLE BEES, PANTYMWYN PASTURES, 1 - 4pm

Meet at Bryn Siriol,Pen y Fron Road, Pantymwyn. 1-4pm followedby tea and cakes in the yurt from 4pm

This afternoon event in Pantymwyn Pastures will be led by entomologist JeffClarke. Jeff has an amazing knowledge of the natural world and an infectiousenthusiasm for passing it on. There’s a whole new world out there just waitingto be discovered! We've always been keento find out what insects are in 'our' meadow, since it's so floristicallydiverse. This may also increase the conservation status of Pantymwyn Pastures if it was ever threatened withdevelopment.

Jeff will charge £100, so we are aimingfor a minimum of 10 people. Obviously the more of us there are the cheaper itwill be, so tell your friends too!

It is also a chance for a summer socialin ‘our’ beautiful meadow. The tea and cakes bit could happen regardless of theweather! Feel free to come along after 4pm.

We will be manning a stand topromote the FOAVW. Please let us know if you can help out for an hour, or comeand say hello.

Saturday 8thSeptember: RSPB Mersey Cruise

Mersey Ferries, NationalMuseums Liverpool, RSPB and The Environment Agency have joined forces to onceagain host the hugely popular Liverbird DiscoveryCruises on the River Mersey and out into the bay. The cruises are perfect for all the familyand to those who are both new and experienced watchers. Previous sightings have included long tailed skuas, peregrine falcons, osprey and Atlantic greyseals.
